The gently contoured plywood seat and backrest provide an ergonomic profile while showcasing the warm grain and character of the walnut. A black tubular steel frame creates a striking contrast, with dramatically splayed legs, exposed metal hardware, and distinctive foot glides reinforcing its industrial character. The chair remains in original vintage condition and has been carefully inspected by our studio for stability, secure construction, and overall functionality while preserving the age-appropriate character of its surfaces. Its combination of molded wood and steel makes it a versatile example of American Mid Century Modern seating suitable for dining, desk, or occasional use.

Fun Historical Fact

Brunswick has a long American manufacturing history extending well beyond the furniture for which vintage design collectors know the company today. During the mid-20th century, Brunswick produced furniture and institutional furnishings that incorporated modern materials and manufacturing techniques. Molded plywood became particularly important to modern furniture because it allowed manufacturers to create curved, supportive forms from relatively thin layers of wood. The combination of molded plywood and tubular steel seen in this chair reflects the period's broader interest in durable, efficiently manufactured furniture with clean modern lines.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0509/1272/3144/files/11_f4603a32-7a64-4374-83c3-bb50854472aa.jpg?v=1790794609
https://vintagesupplystore.com/products/mid-century-modern-walnut-plywood-chair-by-brunswick-c-1960s-1
