Description: This mid-century Sears Silvertone stereo console is a beautiful credenza-style hi-fi that still delivers the classic experience: it powers on, the AM/FM radio plays, and the built-in speakers are working, filling the room with warm vintage sound. The woven speaker grille panels present exceptionally well with no visible blemishes, and the walnut cabinet has a clean, timeless profile that works as both furniture and functional audio. The turntable powers on but does not rotate, so it will need professional servicing if you’d like to use the record player function. Please note the lift-top lid that exposes the turntable does not stay up/hold open due to missing or broken support hardware, so that piece will also need attention.
Fun Historical Fact In the late-1950s/early-1960s, consoles like this were the centerpiece of the living room—part music system, part status piece, and part “modern technology” all in one. Instead of a tiny speaker in the corner, families gathered around a full cabinet that could play radio, stack records, and project sound across the room for entertaining. Using one was almost a ritual: lifting the lid, selecting a band, tuning the dial, and setting a record—small motions that made music feel intentional and immersive. That hands-on experience is exactly why these consoles remain so collectible today: they capture the moment when home audio first became a true lifestyle.
