This striking pair of French Rococo style table lamps, c.1930s, brings the grandeur of the Old World into the New. Crafted in cast spelter with brass-plated gilt accents, the ornate scrolling bases and figural masks echo the lavish artistry of 18th-century France. The egg-shaped lacquered metal bodies feature a dramatic ombré finish that shifts from deep green to warm amber, creating a bold interplay between classic ornament and modern flair. Newly fitted with crisp linen drum shades, the lamps balance timeless European elegance with the sophistication of early 20th-century American design. A true fusion of Classic Old World charm and New World style, these lamps make a statement of enduring luxury.
Fun Historical Fact: The Rococo style, which originated in France during the reign of Louis XV, was often called rocaille (meaning “shellwork”) because of its use of shells, scrolls, and natural motifs—elements you can still see echoed in the ornate detailing of these lamps nearly two centuries later.
