Description: This elegant Replogle globe features a 16-inch diameter sphere mounted on an ornate neoclassical-style brass stand. The base showcases fluted column legs joined by cross stretchers, each topped with acorn finials and ending in beautifully detailed claw feet. Its globe surface, printed in subtle cream and aqua tones, reflects the cartographic work of LeRoy M. Tolman, Chief Cartographer for Replogle during the 1970s. The combination of decorative brass and refined cartography makes it both an educational and decorative statement piece. Made in the USA, it remains one of the most distinguished examples of Replogle’s mid-century craftsmanship.
Fun Historical Fact: Founded in 1930 by Luther Replogle, Replogle Globes became the world’s largest manufacturer of globes, with a mission to make geography accessible to every household. LeRoy M. Tolman, who joined the company in the 1950s, led its cartographic design for over 30 years, shaping how generations visualized the world. During the 1970s, Replogle’s globes were a common sight in libraries, classrooms, and executive offices across America, symbolizing both curiosity and sophistication.
