Description: This expertly refinished nine-drawer dresser by Gevurtz Furniture Co. showcases the clean proportions and understated elegance associated with American Mid-Century Modern design. Crafted in richly figured walnut, the broad façade is organized into three balanced columns of drawers, providing generous storage while maintaining a streamlined profile. Recessed drawer pulls and subtly rounded trim preserve the uninterrupted grain pattern, allowing the natural warmth and movement of the wood to remain the visual focus. The case is elevated on tapered legs, lending the substantial form a lighter, more architectural appearance. Restored to highlight its original craftsmanship and character, this handsome dresser offers both practical functionality and an exceptionally versatile modern presence.

Fun Historical Fact Gevurtz Furniture Company was a family-owned Portland, Oregon, furniture business whose history extended for more than a century, beginning with a small store established by Isaac Gevurtz in 1881. During the 1950s, Burton Gevurtz helped reposition the struggling downtown business by placing greater emphasis on contemporary furniture, connecting the company closely with the emerging modern aesthetic of the period. The business later opened the Gevurtz Contemporary Furniture showroom in Tigard, Oregon, and remained in operation until Burton’s retirement in 1997.
