Fun Historical Fact Bassett Furniture was founded in Bassett, Virginia, in 1902 and became one of the most prominent names in American furniture manufacturing. By the middle of the twentieth century, the company had grown into one of the world’s largest manufacturers of wood furniture. Bassett’s 1960s collections often balanced practical storage with fashionable modern details designed for the rapidly changing American home. The dramatic rosewood accents on this dresser reflect the era’s enthusiasm for combining contrasting exotic and domestic woods to give mass-produced furniture a more luxurious, custom appearance.
