Mid Century Modern Walnut & Brass Credenza by Century Furniture, c.1960's

Description: This 1960's Mid Century Modern credenza by Century Furniture combines warm walnut with walnut-stained secondary hardwood and understated brass hardware. The balanced façade features three spacious central drawers flanked by cabinet doors, with additional upper drawers providing organized storage for smaller essentials. Thoughtful construction details include dovetailed drawers, a fitted divided interior, cabinet shelving, framed side panels, and slender tapered legs that give the substantial case a refined profile. Its generous storage and broad surface make it equally functional as a dining credenza, living-room storage piece, or statement console. Presented in Original Vintage Condition, the credenza retains its period character and has been carefully inspected by our studio for stable joints, smooth drawer and door operation, secure hardware, clean interiors, and overall functionality.

Fun Historical Fact

Century Furniture developed into one of North Carolina's prominent American furniture manufacturers during the 20th century. During the 1960's, the company produced furnishings that reflected both contemporary and traditional approaches to American interior design. Walnut was especially well suited to Mid Century Modern case furniture, where its expressive grain could provide visual interest without relying on excessive ornamentation. Long, low credenzas such as this became a hallmark of the period because they combined substantial enclosed storage with the clean horizontal proportions favored in modern interiors.
