Description: This decorative Spanish Colonial Revival table lamp, dating to the 1950s, features an elaborate gilt wrought iron body with graceful scrolling forms and a richly aged surface. The sculptural ironwork is anchored by a giltwood base, creating a layered combination of metal and wood that gives the lamp a strong architectural presence. Its open framework and ornamental curves reflect the Mediterranean and Spanish-inspired motifs that became especially popular in American interiors during the mid-20th century. The lamp has been newly rewired with updated electrical components and is finished with a newly made linen shade, allowing it to function reliably while preserving its original vintage character. With its dramatic silhouette and warm gilt finish, this piece works beautifully as an accent lamp in both traditional and eclectic interiors.

Fun Historical Fact Spanish Colonial Revival design became especially influential in California during the early and mid-20th century, inspired by historic Spanish missions, Mediterranean architecture, and hand-forged decorative arts. Wrought iron was one of the movement’s signature materials and appeared frequently in lighting, balconies, gates, and furniture. By the 1940s and 1950s, American designers often adapted these historic motifs into more decorative interior pieces with gilt finishes and sculptural scrollwork. Today, vintage Spanish Revival lighting is especially appreciated for the way it combines Old World ornament with the relaxed character of mid-century California interiors.
